It’s a Miracle!
After almost 4 years in business and much ribbing from friends, family and clients, The Chopping Block Post Production Inc. has finally launched an official website. It turns out that creating a website is way more work than it looks. Mostly decision making and copy writing. I’d much rather edit video than text. But I’m glad it’s finally here and I’m proud of the result.
I’ve made a commitment to keep up the blog side of the website to keep all of you informed not only about my work, but also the many hobbies that I’m passionate about. The Portfolio will also grow over time and be updated with new and exciting projects as well.
Thanks for your patience and support. Enjoy!

NAB 2011
NAB is short for “National Association of Broadcasters” and is an annual industry gathering to showcase the upcoming technology for the year. I’m hoping to attend this April as I’m budgeting to add a second edit workstation to the office. Rumor is that Apple is releasing an updated Final Cut Studio to support 64-bit computing. Most FCP users including myself have been patiently waiting for a significant update. So the following caught my attention. An actual text exchange between Steve Jobs and a concerned pro video user:
Steve,
Getting worried about Apple’s interest in Final Cut. Last updates were not stellar. I heard a bunch of engineers were dropped too – give us a sign you still care about Pro Video, not just the iPad.
Thanks,
Alex
We certainly do. Folks who left were in support, not engineering. Next release will be awesome.
Steve
That’s enough to pique my interest. Plus any reason is a good reason to relax in Las Vegas.

The Rubber Hits The Road
Any self-professed movie geek knows that January is a notoriously slow month for good films and is usually a dumping ground for the worst of the year. That being said, I am excited by one peculiar little film called “Rubber”. It’s about a tire. No really. I don’t want to give too much away. Just check below for a link to the trailer. It may be the greatest film ever created. Awesome.

Also on my radar is the movie “The Rite” with Anthony Hopkins. I’d watch him read the phone book, but playing a priest teaching in an exorcism school? Awesome.

The Great Walleye Drought of 2010
I have a confession to make. A dark dirty secret that I’m ashamed of… I didn’t catch one Walleye in all of 2010. You heard that right. Not one single Walleye all year. How is this possible? A perfect storm of weather, scheduling and boat problems conspired to keep me shutout. Ok, there was also line breaks, impatience and bad luck. As a self professed angler and lover of the water this is about the worst possible scenario that could ever occur.
Don’t fret. The phoenix will rise in 2011. It may not happen during ice fishing season, but I guarantee I will have a Walleye on by May Long Weekend this year. I will claim my prize, even if I have to stay on the lake for 24 hours straight in a blinding blizzard.
Check back here in May for photos, videos and full progress reports on the 2011 fishing season.

Yoga Resolution 2011
Yoga and meditation is probably the best overall physical and mental fitness program out there right now. So why did it escape me for the last couple of years? Instead of beating myself up with excuses and story lines, I’d rather report on the present.
In an effort to return to the mat I have decided to take an immersive yoga teacher training program called “Kshatriya” at Lion’s Breath Yoga. The course takes place one weekend a month for the entire year. I like the commitment of the schedule and the possibility of evolution over the course of the year. The owner/operator Dawn Lamothe has been kind enough to offer the course on an ‘exchange of services’ basis. I’ll be helping her produce monthly promotional YouTube videos as my part of the deal.
Watch this space for photos, videos and progress reports from my Yogic journey. To check out the Lions Breath YouTube channel please see the link below.
